Week Two – Friday
“Run to Him”
As we finish up a week of fasting, I want to encourage you to make fasting a regular part of your walk with Christ. It helps us tune into the Holy Spirit. We have to realize how important this really is for a believer. Certainly, we want to hear from Jesus, but the Holy Spirit is our helper. He should be who we turn to first for everything we need. Think about it… who did you go to first the last time something major happened? Often times we turn to a spouse, parent, friend, mentor for advice on how to handle the major issues. Why is that?
Jesus told us he would send a helper who would be with us constantly, yet we turn to worldly people before we ever think to go to our helper. Instead of our knee jerk reaction of running to others, our immediate response should be to stop and ask the Holy Spirit what we should do. Why would we put others opinions over that of the Holy Spirit? It might be the struggle of human nature. Wanting a tangible answer, yet we have access to one who knows our tomorrow.
Galatians 5 says, “So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. When we choose to walk by the spirit, we are able to know and do the will of God. When we choose to run to Him, we choose faith over fear. Not only does it increase our faith, we don’t end up making messy situations messier. As we have discussed earlier in the week, it’s important that when the Holy Spirit gives us direction, we follow it. It’s not always a word, sometimes it’s what we call a gut feeling, and impression and it requires action on our part.
I’m convinced the more we turn to Him and take a step in faith, the more we will see God at work in our lives. Let’s make it our first instinct to run to Him first and follow His plan.

Today’s Prayer
Father, thank you for our Helper who is always with us. Help me to always turn to the Holy Spirit first before anyone else. Let me be led by the spirit rather than things of the world. Help me to stop listenign to the worlds ideas and plans but to know your plans for me. In Jesus Name, Amen.
