Week Two – Thursday
“It’s A Mindset”
In pursuit of weight loss, I have heard the phrase, “It’s a mindset” over and over. While extremely aggravating, it’s very true. Until we set our minds to something and fully commit to something, we will never see complete success. Sure, you may see some victories here and there, but success is certainly in the long game.
To grow closer in our walk with Jesus, it takes a different mindset than that of the world. Following God’s Word often means going against the grain. We are taught from childhood so many things that rely on tangible ideas. Faith is not tangible. It’s believing in the unseen.
Following Jesus means operating much differently than the world. That’s why Jesus says we are to be set apart. Paul encourages us in today’s reading to “Not be conformed to this world,” but instead we should be “transformed by the renewing of our mind.” Growing closer to God means a shift in our thinking.
Trying to serve God without any effort is pointless. That really applies to any relationship. It’s amazing to me how many marriages end in dicorce because people fail to realize the effort it takes for success. If you thought you could marry someone and just continue to live as you did while single, you’re in for a tough journey.
If we are going to grow closer to God, we cannot expect change without changing our mindset. It means adopting changes in our patterns. Making time for relationship to happen and making room for God to use us. Once we have made up our minds and commit to healthy spiritual changes, then we will see the results.
As you can probably tell, this takes commitment. Sure, it can be a challenge at first, but I hope you will see that by the end of these devotionals, you will be left with a desire to continue this daily time with Him.

Today’s Prayer
Father, use these daily devotions to reset my mind. Help me to not look at this world through the eyes of man, but to instead see it through your eyes. Help me to make lasting changes in my daily devotion that will leave me closer to you. In Jesus Name, Amen.
